Dedicated and mature staff create a supportive atmosphere in order to help campers to challenge themselves to take risks that are social, emotional, physical and cognitive in nature. Risks that are self-directed become opportunities for learning and social and emotional development.
Highly qualified, experienced and caring staff provide physical and emotional safety in ways that allow campers to learn and have fun! We have a high staff-to-camper ratio providing lots of individual attention, so you can be sure that we are there for the campers!
Camp Towhee’s therapeutic approach is supported by a 2:1 camper to staff ratio, in a small “community” style environment. Born and raised in Toronto, and summer's on Georgian's Bay, Harry grew up with an appreciation of nature that rivals his love of Star Wars. He first became involved with Integra CDI at the age of 12, as a client, in their Mindfulness Martial Arts and Towhee programs. After several years as a camper at Towhee, and earning his Junior Black Belt in MMA, Harry left for Mount Allison University to major in psychology and sociology, but he just could not stay away. Harry began working with the Towhee Program as a staff in 2012, and over the past five years has been a counselor, support counselor, and counselor supervisor. Harry has also returned as an instructor in the Integra MMA program and is passionate about providing the quality of service that helped him to be here today. Harry is excited to be continuing his work with the Towhee Program for his sixth consecutive summer and beyond excited to be the new Assistant Director of Counselling. He is also enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto, pursuing his dream of being a social worker.
